Pepperballs are round, plastic paintball-like projectiles. When fired from an airgun like the Pepperball LifeLite or similar air guns, a pepperball flies through the air and strikes its target with a forceful, but not lethal, impact. Upon impact, the pepperball shell breaks open, releasing a powder with an ingredient known as PAVA. This synthetic irritant mimics the effects of pepper spray, irritating the eyes, nose and respiratory system, causing watery eyes, runny nose and a burning sensation to deter a threat. These symptoms generally last between a few minutes and an hour.
For those who prefer a non-lethal alternative for personal or home defense, Pepperball equipment and pepperballs are an excellent, affordable option.
According to Pepperball, there has never been a recorded fatality directly related to the use of Pepperball products. *May be restricted in some states check local laws*
